Oded Rimon

Oded Rimon is a visual artist based in Amsterdam, NL.

His work moves between sculpture, site-specific architecture, engineered phenomena, and set and prop design for theatre and film. Engaging in research and development Oded’s making spans across mechanical engineering and robotics with a deep understanding of diverse materials, crafts and techniques.

Trained in theatre, Oded has always been drawn to collaboration. For him, making things is rarely a solitary act-  it’s about building lasting relationships with other artists, getting deeply involved in their visions, and helping bring ambitious ideas into physical existence. That kind of sustained, generous engagement is at the heart of how he works.

He is a visiting teacher at the SVT and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, and since 2014 has worked closely alongside artists in residence at the Rijksakademie. His own work has been exhibited internationally, while his collaborations; whether as co-creator or as a key contributor to another artist’s vision, have been presented at the Istanbul and Venice Biennales, Yorkshire Sculpture International, Kunsthalle Münster, Haus Konstruktiv, Kunstinstituut Melly, and the Stedelijk Museum, among others.

His most recent collaboration, Playground with Sonia Kazovsky, is on view at the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, K20 Düsseldorf.
